So yeah this is the answer. Geran is a diamond in the rough. If you are watching it purely for a deep, complex screenplay, you might find the first half frustratingly sluggish. However, as a martial arts showcase, it is one of the most visceral and authentic films to emerge from Southeast Asia since Indonesia's The Raid. By showcasing the raw beauty of Silat through actual martial artists, Areel Abu Bakar created an adrenaline-fueled love letter to Malaysian culture that demands the attention of global action fans.
